[Article] 170224 BTS "Not Today" Music video screen time controversy "How could Jin appear less than his company's logo"

Fans are expressing their disappointment regarding Jin's screen time in BTS's "Not Today" music video.

On the 20th, BTS revealed their music video for their non-title track "Not Today" from "WINGS Extension: You Never Walk Alone". This music video received explosive responses from netizens and reached 10 million views on Youtube in just 21 hours and 38minutes since its release.

The problem of the music video is Jin's screen time. Other than the group choreography and group scenes, Jin only appeared for 2 seconds by himself.

The displeased fans expressed, "We're looking for our eldest member's screen time who did not appear more than 3 seconds in the music video, no matter how many times we've watched the video.", "The music video is 4 minutes and 50 seconds long. In 290 seconds, the company logo/intro appeared for 8 seconds but the group member only gets 1 second.", "Are you trying to deceive the fans?".

Their fans expressed disappointment and used the hashtag  #빅히트_분량_피드백 (Bighit please provide feedback regarding screen time).

Also, there was a related controversy to another member, J Hope's part distribution. Although he's the rapper of the group his rap did not get included in BTS's new title track "Spring Day".

It's been said J Hope made an attempt as a vocalist with this song but many voiced out that his voice is hardly heard in the vocal parts as well.

1.  I mean, Bighit, isn't this too much? I understand that members get different line distribution for every song but what do you mean by members not getting any line at all or appearing for 1 second on music video? Why do we need to see the masked dancers more than the actual member? +113 -2

2. Although there has been line/part distribution controversy all along, I'm disappointed with the company because I don't see any improvement. We're not asking you to push all the lines to one specific member. We just want fair distribution but you don't respond to such matters so it's frustrating +96 -1

3. When you watch music videos of other singers, unless they use actors in their music video, the actual singers never appeared for only 1~2 seconds ㅋㅋㅋㅋ... it's not like Seokjin left during the music video shoot... He also sings a very small part in Not Today too so did you really had to show the sky and the scenery instead of Jin? +86 -1

4. ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ screen time less than Bighit's logo ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ Seokjin ㅜ +84 -1

5. They've been creating similar problems every time but it looks like Bighit has no intention to give feedback. Please give us a feedback. How could the singer only appear 1 second in his music video? I can't understand the different line distributions in actual audio and stage performance +65 -0

6. You really terrified me with Blood Sweat and Tears!!!!!! I thought you guys would improve a little in the next album butㅜㅜㅜㅜ it's not like Seokjin can't sing, he has a great tone!!!! Why are you doing this? +45 -0

7. Seokjin's part keeps reducing every time... does this even make any sense? Are you ignoring the fans? Because I think Bighit is really going too far ㅡㅡ +43 -0

8. I support Bighit but I noticed that at least one member gets less part in every song... if you keep doing this, you're only making ARMY's angry. We're not asking for any special treatment for a specific member. Shouldn't he get at least some part? +43 -0

9. Honestly, we've been appealing about their line distribution all along but I don't know why they're not listening to us? If I were Jin, I think this would have made me really upset and mad. It's not only Jin, you guys distribute the lines really terribly +48 02

10. I've been trying to understand and understand again but his part never seemed to improve. They kept reducing and now they've made a new record of 2 second screen time on music video. BTS is a team. Each and every 7 member is precious. I really hope we won't have to see such thing happening again. Bighit, please give us a feedback soon. +41 -0
